Harvesting the Energy in Intermittent, Gusty Winds
Wind energy is a clean renewable, sustainable alternative to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. However, two limitations of wind power are widely accepted:
1. that the winds must be relatively strong, constant, and in one general direction.
2. that to generate electricity, a shaft must rotate in a coil in one direction only, such as clockwise.
The first statement eliminates most of South Carolina, and the USA, as potential sources of wind energy, because our winds are neither constant nor strong.
In addition, 60% of the energy in a gallon of gas used to power a vehicle down a highway is spent overcoming aerodynamic drag, leaving aerodynamic turbulence in its wake. ALL - 100% - of this turbulence is currently wasted.
I have a patent for a device and method to capture not only the wind energy from intermittent, gusty winds, but also some of the turbulence currently wasted by vehicle traffic.
The idea needs basic research and development.
It is described in the attached PowerPoint, and at the Web site lookforthepower.com
