NEILs have the potential to meet DOE targets for freezing point, vapor pressure, heat capacity,
high thermal stability and chemical compatibility
Initial results suggest that:
• [C4mmim][Tf2N] has the best combination of properties for this application
• Al2O3 and carbon nanoparticles do not effect thermal stability, but Al2O3 increases heat capacity and CB
does not
• NEILs show an increase in heat capacity vs. Therminol® VP-1
